SOMETIMES MY MEMORIES

For this project the objective was to create a series of paintings that represented a meaning; that between them they developed the same language. The artist used photographic resources, photographic memory, as well as interviews with people to obtain information to construct the plan for the sixteen different paintings. The artist chose to create these paintings inspired by memories that the artist herself has of her country of origin, Venezuela, and others that she does not remember but that there are photographs in which she appears; from there the name of the project was inspired.

BOLIVARES
14

In this piece, the artist chose to alter the national currency of her homeland to reflect her vision of how it would seem today, devoid of the numerous reconversions the Central Bank of Venezuela has made. In addition to "comically representing" the ridiculous economic circumstances, the artist aims to capture the nation's truth. The artist added 14 extra zeros to the 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 bolivar bills, which are not reflected in the current bills because of the reconversions made in 2007, 2018, and 2021. This represents, in an ironic way, the incalculable consequences of inadequate governmental structuring.
